Launching a Website | Independent in Lockdown

2020 has been a challenging year for independent retailers across the country. During the miserable week in March of gradually reducing footfall leading up to the first lockdown, it was clear that COVID was changing the retail landscape for longer than just a few weeks. It was then that we made the decision to launch an ecommerce website to help sales in the longer term.

As a traditional brick and mortar hardware store, this is far easier said than done.

Planning started with narrowing down over 40,000 product lines to those which we felt were suitable to represent our heritage to customers who aren't gifted with the luxury of visiting our Alnwick store. We really wanted to bring our vibrant, family-run business mix to online customers.

7 months, 2 lockdowns and a lot of compost & silver copse later, and our website is now open for business.

We bring to you the online world of House & Home - Proudlocks.

With a huge new furniture range, and over 1000 in-store products available to order, hopefully our sparkle can reach across the globe in away which, when Mr Proudlock founded the business in 1975, could only be dreamed of.
